Pay Monthly Websites
Pay monthly websites are for a minimum period of 12 months. Before the end of the 12 months you must inform us if you want to keep the website online. We will send you a reminder 1 month before. If we don’t hear from you we won’t renew the domain name and the website will go offline.
After the first 12 months you are free to transfer the website to another hosting provider/website company. If you decide to transfer the website to another company any costs for this will be payable by the client and not Artisan Websites.
A regular monthly payment must be set up at PayPal. This will occur automatically when you order your website. If you cancel the payment before the end of the first 12 months the remaining payment will become due. For example, if there are 6 months left on the contract you will need to pay £168 for a start-up website.
If payment for the month is not received when due you have 1 week in which to make the payment or the website will be taken offline and any related email accounts will no longer work.
Work will begin after the initial payment is received.
After initial payment is received the domain name will be registered. No refund will be made once the domain has been registered. If you already have a domain name we can arrange to “point” the domain at the new website.
Copy for the website should be provided in a format ready to go on the website preferably in a Word or text document. This means the copy must be spell-checked and proofread. After the copy has been placed on the website slight changes can be made but large replacements of copy will be charged by the hour.
Bespoke Website Design
A deposit of 50% is required to begin the work. 45% is due within one month (unless the website is completed in that time, in which case full payment will be due). Final payment is due immediately after completion of the website and before the website goes live. The website remains the property of Artisan Websites until payment is received in full.
Payment for domain names is required before starting the project. No refund will be made once the domain has been registered. Domains are registered for 1 year at a time and you will need to inform us if you do not want the domain renewed.
An invoice will be issued yearly for payment of the hosting. It is up to the client to inform us prior to this time if hosting is no longer required.
If invoices remain unpaid for longer than 60 days we reserve the right to turn off the email accounts and if still not paid, take the website offline until payment is made. The client will be informed prior to this occurring in an effort to resolve the situation. If a client continues to pay invoices later than 60 days we will require payment up-front before any further updates are carried out.
All design work is done based on a price agreed between Artisan Websites and the client. Any extras to the originally agreed project will be charged for. The client will be notified in advance if extra costs will be incurred.
A proposed design will be shown on a test site for the client to view. If the client is not satisfied with the design, one more proposal will be made. Small changes to these designs will not be charged for. However, any major changes to this will be added as an extra charge to the originally quoted price.
Copy for the website should be provided in a format ready to go on the website preferably in a Word or text document. This means the copy must be spell-checked and proofread. After the copy has been placed on the website slight changes can be made but large replacements of copy will be charged by the hour. Similarly with photos – where photos have been placed on the website they should be the final versions and any work replacing the photos will be charged by the hour. We will inform you ahead of time if any of the additional work that will be charged as an extra.
The length of time it takes to produce a website depends on a) the size of the website b) current workload and c) additional work finalising the design. An approximate completion date will be given to the client and we will do our best to meet this, however, it is possible that the job will take longer. If you have a specific deadline that must be met please ensure this is fully agreed upon with us.
Artisan Websites provides an update service to customer’s websites charged at an hourly rate. Invoices are issued periodically for payment of this service. If payment for this service is continually late (longer than 30 days) the customer must pay in advance for any updates done. We endeavour to update your website as soon as possible but large updates need to be planned for and agreed in advance.
Where long delays occur due to the client not providing some of the content an invoice will be issued for the updates and the work will be completed once the client sends the content.
We use a reputable and reliable company to host our websites. They have multiple connections to the Internet with different backbone providers, should any connection fail the other connections automatically take all the traffic. Not only does this mean that connectivity to the Internet is very unlikely to be lost, but it also means that traffic moving to and from their network can choose from a range of paths to get to its final destination.
The host company uses reasonable endeavours to make the server and the services available to the customer 100% of the time but because the services are provided by means of computer and telecommunications systems, they make no warranties or representations that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. The host company and Artisan Websites are not liable, in any event, for interruptions of service or downtime of the server. The host company takes reasonable precautions to prevent security breaches of the website.

This also applies to any downtime of the customer’s website and any security issues arising. The Customer is fully responsible for keeping a back-up of their website content.
Web hosting accounts are prohibited from hosting adult content orientated websites, hosting banners, graphics or cgi scripts for other websites, storing pages, files or data as a repository for other websites or personal computers, giving away web space under a domain, sub domain or directory.
We reserve the right to charge extra for excessive use of bandwidth caused by any of the above. We will contact the customer prior to implementing any extra charges. We also reserve the right to remove offensive materials from the server or files that are causing excessive downloads.
Content Management System
Where the client uses our supplied Content Management System (CMS), they are fully responsible for making back-ups of the website. In the event of data being lost due to hosting problems or due to the client deleting files Artisan Websites is not liable for loss of the data or any subsequent loss of business. We do perform back-ups of data from time to time but the client should not rely on this.
We provide a basic support system to help with getting started with your email accounts and using the control panel. This service may be charged for if it becomes time-consuming at our discretion. We are happy to help with advice but we do not provide an IT support service as such.
If you experience a delay in service, such as your email, please check our system status page first before contacting us. If your website is hosted with our company we will endeavour to get a full return to service as quickly as possible.
We provide hosting space as a Reseller of the hosting company. As such there is no direct communication possible from the customer to the hosting company. Any technical support issues must be addressed to Artisan Websites. We endeavour to deal with technical support issues as soon as possible, however, service is limited during evenings and weekends.
If you would like a more direct service then please let us know so that we can set you up with an account directly with the host company. In this case, our offer of free hosting is nullified and payment for the hosting will occur directly between the client and the hosting company.
We produce websites for a diverse selection of clients. However, we do not make websites for psychiatrists, psychologists, drug companies, adult entertainment, gambling or any related business types. We reserve the right to withdraw from any proposed project with a client should it be discovered their business involves any of the aforementioned activities.
The client guarantees that all materials provided to Artisan Websites are owned by the client and does not infringe any copyrights. This includes all images, copy and other media. Artisan Websites. cannot be held responsible for material supplied by the client that does not conform to this.
Artisan Websites may use stock photography as part of the design of your website. The photos are licensed to use on the website in their current format. If you require a version of the photo for print this must be obtained directly from the relevant stock photo website with the correct license. These photos are strictly for use on the website only and may not be re-distributed or sold on to others.
Artisan Websites cannot be held liable for any artwork received from the client if this proves to be obtained illegally. Artisan Websites. will not be held liable for any pictures obtained from stock photo websites if these prove to have been illegally available on the stock photo website.
